SEDAC-MERAL is part of the MECASEAT group which has activities in four different industrial sectors

  • Manufacturing of convertible bed mechanisms

  • Panels and school furniture

These activities are all located in Europe and generated a total turnover of 260 million EUR in 2008.
The name, SEDAC-MERAL was born from the merger of SEDAC and MERAL in 1988.
The group is the European leader in the manufacturing of sofa beds and convertible bed mechanisms.

  

Thanks to a 30-year experience in the sofa business, SEDAC-MERAL enjoys strong brand recognition and maintains a reputation for technical know-how.In fact, the name SEDAC-MERAL has become the name of reference in the convertible sofa sector.

SEDAC-MECOBEL is located in Flanders and occupies a site of 45 000 m2. Its daughter company, MERAL occupies 31 000 m2 and is located in the west of France.  

SEDAC-MERAL Group, including subsidiaries, employs about 500 people and had a turnover of 87 million EUR in 2008.

 

 
 
 SEDAC-MERAL deals essentially with metal tubes and metal sheet parts.
 
Our machines are fully automated and allow us to produce more than 6 000 mechanisms daily.
 
All our plants benefit from the assistance and the competence of SEDAC TECHNICS, composed of engineering, design and manufacturing departments.

  • SEDAC-MECOBEL is located in Belgium and manufactures metallic    structures converting sofas into beds and vice versa. These products are mainly supplied to the upholstery industry. Thanks to its agent and distributor network, SEDAC-MECOBEL is today present in more than 60 countries..

     

 

      

   

  • MERAL is located in the west of France and manufactures steel structures for sofa beds, convertible bed systems and pull-out beds which are sold mainly in France. 30% of its turnover is achieved abroad including U.K, Germany, Spain, Poland and to a lesser extent Australia and New Zealand. 

     

     

 

  

  • SEDAC FRANCE is specialised in the manufacture of slatted bed bases, foldable beds and various other bedding-related products. In this segment, SEDAC FRANCE is one of the leaders on the French market with 400 000 units produced per year.   

     

 
    

With the objective of international expansion and increased proximity of its customers, SEDAC MERAL is developing manufacturing facilities in markets abroad. All these facilities sell products under the SEDAC MERAL brand name.

 

  • Sedac-Meral Vostok (SMV) is a Moscow-based manufacturing facility selling SEDAC MERAL products under license. SMV occupies 15 000 m2 and employs around 80 people.

 

  • Sedac Sofabeds Components (SSCS) is our production unit in Shanghai which produces sofa bed mechanisms. S.S.C.S. plays a key role in penetrating the Southern Asian market and from there, deliver Australia and New Zealand
  
  • I.F.A. is located in Portugal and manufactures sofa bed systems. With a capacity of 70 000 mechanisms per year, I.F.A. sells locally to wholesalers and to the upholstery industry. I.F.A. covers the local market as well as Spain, Italy and North African Countries.

 

  • Meral BG is located in Bulgaria and manufactures sofa bed systems. Our sales represent 60% of the local market. Meral is pursuing its growth by exporting in Romania, Greece, Turkey and Ex-Yugoslavian countries.
  
  • In addition SEDAC-MERAL also has assembly plants in countries such as Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and New Zealand.
